 Ajman’s ‘Heritage Trail’ named ‘Project of the Year’ at MEED Projects Awards 2023

Ajman’s remarkable ‘Heritage Trail’ project has earned the esteemed title of the ‘Cultural Project of the Year’ at the prestigious MEED Projects Awards 2023.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department, who received the excellence shield, said the department is proud of the award, which adds to its track record of creativity and achievement, affirming that the department has won the award for the project’s contribution to highlighting the authentic identity and ancient history of the Emirate of Ajman, and focusing on sensory and visual legacies.

Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, the Executive Director of the Department’s Infrastructure Development Sector, said the project seamlessly integrates with the emirate’s’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, encompassing four distinct areas that exemplify a harmonious fusion of the old and the new.

Stretching for 1.025 kilometers, the pathway seamlessly intertwines historical landmarks, beginning at the esteemed residence of poet Rashid Al-Kheder. It winds its way through the Ajman Museum, the Heritage District, the bustling Saleh Market, and the heritage buildings in the Palm Area, ultimately culminating at the captivating waterfront.

The 13th Annual MEED Projects Awards 2023 celebrate and recognise the best-in-class construction, infrastructure, and utility projects completed in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region over the past 12 months, with more than 100 projects across 17 categories selected as National Winners this year based on their demonstration of technological innovation and engineering excellence.
